geeks are fit in NZ

It is extremely rare to meet 120 people who are actually really, really interesting. In fact so interesting that a geek like me can spend two days in an environment with free wireless and barely open her computer.
Brenda and I spent two days at Kiwi Foo Camp in the company of what must be some of New Zealand's smartest and most inspiring people: Leading business and technology people showed up in shorts and jandals and freely shared their insights, ideas and learnings (Quite amazing except that 28 year old successful business owners with philosophical insights make me feel a bit of a failure ;-).
Foo Camp also revealed that that New Zealand is probably be the only country in the world where geeks are fit and tanned and have reasonable haircuts and where all the owners of illegally cracked iPhones have actually met each other in person.
A big thank you for the excellent organisation to Nat, Jennie and Russel!

And interesting people, smart people, people worth staying up til the wee small hours to talk to. On the lunch of the last day there was a real sense of damn, have to leave, can't talk to these people anymore. That doesn't happen often! |
